What training have your doulas had?
Every Doula UK member has completed a recognised training course but a doula’s training is never over. Our doulas learn and grow everyday, always take time to reflect on their practice and regularly access the doula community forums where they pool their knowledge, share their feelings and support one another.
Doula UK is a network of doulas run by doulas on a voluntary basis. It is a non-profit organisation and was the first association of doulas to be set up in the UK almost 12 years ago. It has a philosophy, sets standards and has a code of conduct which all members adhere to. The likes of Michel Odent, Sheila Kitzinger and Janet Balaskas are amongst it’s many supporters.
Our doulas regularly attend courses, workshops and study days on everything from breastfeeding to waterbirth and have had the opportunity to meet and listen to some of the worlds leading experts on childbirth and breastfeeding.
